Ar. Sarly Adre Sarkum, 34 Architect Born dyslexic, Ar. Sarly battled the stigma of being a slow learner at a young age. Going against the odds, he won an essay competition and set his heart on building the nation. Now an architect and the youngest council member of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (Malaysian Institute of Architects), he also holds an office in the Malaysian Green Building Council. Besides that, he also volunteers at a shelter home in Gombak and hopes to improve the standard of living in the area. Dalvinder Singh, 24 Doctor As a medical student in Moscow, Dalvinder overcame alcoholism and soon founded the Malaysian Fellowship in the campus. He credited it to the friends who didn’t see him as he was, but what/who he can be and this propelled him forward. What started off as a simple gathering of likeminded students turned into an organization of 300-strong students who are sent out yearly on medical missions to aid countries and communities in need. He has led medical teams to China, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam and recently, he served in Haiti and raised funds for a school in Bihar, India. It stars political humorist Stephen Colbert, a former correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. The Colbert Report is a spin-off from and counterpart to The Daily Show that comments on politics and the media in a similar way. It satirizes conservative personality-driven political pundit programs, particularly Fox News’s The O’Reilly Factor. The show focuses on a fictional anchorman character named Stephen Colbert, played by his real-life namesake. The character, described by Colbert as a “well-intentioned, poorly informed, high-status idiot”, is a caricature of televised political pundits. The Colbert Report has been nominated for four Emmys each in 2006, 2007 and 2008, two Television Critics Association Awards, and two Satellite Awards. It has been presented as non-satirical journalism in several instances, by the Tom DeLay Legal Defense Trust, and following Robert Wexler’s interview on the program.
